Podlaskie Voivodeship
The Podlasie Voivodship (Polish województwo podlaskie ) is one of the 16 regions, which divide the Republic of Poland. Which emerged from the provinces of Białystok and Łomża as well as a part of Suwałki 1999 Province is located in north-eastern Poland, is surrounded by the provinces of Warmia and Mazury, Mazovia and Lublin and confined in a quadrangle to the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast and Lithuania to the north and Belarus in the east. The capital Białystok has approximately 295,000 inhabitants, although quite large, otherwise Podlasie is but the least populated and structured Voivodeship of Poland. Here live person belonging to a Belarussian and a Tatar - Muslim minority.

Administrative divisions
The Podlasie Voivodeship is divided into 14 Powiats ( counties ), the three cities are cycle-free. The counties named after them they do not belong to themselves.

Geography
Largest cities
Białystok, the capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, is the only major city in northeastern Poland. In the very sparsely populated region surrounding the seven next largest cities together make not the population of the provincial capital.

Forests
In the province Poldlachien is the Polish part of the Białowieża Primeval Forest ( World Heritage Site) and the associated National Park.
Economy
Expressed in comparison with the EU GDP in purchasing power standards reached the province in 2006 an index of 38.4 (EU-27 = 100), making it one of the 20 regions with the lowest GDP (from 271). The unemployment rate in December 2009 was 12.6 percent, which corresponded to 61,200 people.
