Poiana Rusca Mountains -

The Poiana Rusca Mountains - (Romanian Poiana Rusca Munţii ) is a mountain range in the Western Romanian Carpathians, which provides the connection between the Apuseni Mountains in the north and the Banat Mountains in the south. The Poiana Rusca Mountains, covers an area of ​​approximately 2,640 square kilometers at an average altitude of 700-1000 meters.

Geographical Location

In the north of the Poiana Rusca Mountains, adjacent to the Transylvanian Ore Mountains, the southernmost part of the Apuseni Mountains, and to the hill Lipovaer (Romanian: Dealurile Lipovei ), the northern border between Deva and Dobra is marked by the course of the river Mures.

In the west, the massif of the Caransebeşer sink is limited and between Maciova and Costei of the Timis.

The running of the Bistra separates the Poiana Rusca Mountains, in north-south direction from the Tarcu Mountains.

In the east, the mountain range along the cities Haţeg, Hunedoara and Deva of the Haţeger and the Streisenke is limited.

Description

The Poiana Rusca Mountains, extends beyond the circles Karasch -Severin, Timiş and Hunedoara. The highest peaks are Pades ( 1374 meters), the Rusca ( 1355 meters) and Poiana summit ( 1049 meters). From a geological point of view, there is a mountain massif of crystalline shale, limestone and sandstone. The marble in the Poiana Rusca Mountains - can compete with the Carrara marble. In Ruschita is one of the oldest and largest centers for the production of marble. The mountain is also rich in lead, zinc, copper and gold.

Before the Second World War there existed a well-developed tourism in the Poiana Rusca - Mountains. In 1937, at the point " Sapte Izvoare " ( German: Seven Springs ) from " Clubul turistic Bănăţean " ( German: Banat tourism club), at an altitude of 800 meters from local marble erected a " monument to ask the tourist ". Every year is celebrated here in August, the "Day of the tourism monument ".

Hydrography

  • The hydrographic basin of the Mures accumulated on an area of 1452 square kilometers, the waters to the east of the Poiana Rusca Mountains -, of which the Cerna, to withdrawing and the Dobra most important. 1962, the dam Cincis at the Cerna was built.
