Point Fortin

Point Fortin is a small town in Trinidad and Tobago.

The city has the status of a borough and is located in the southwestern part of Trinidad, about 31 km (20 miles) from San Fernando away.

History

1906, the city grew with the help of oil production, which is particularly high in this region. Between the 1940s and the 1980s there was in Point Fortin a high population increase, after which it was from a village to a city.

Due to the closure of the oil refinery threatened economic decline, which could be, however, stopped by the construction of a liquefied natural gas plant.
