Ponezhukay

Poneschukai (Russian Понежукай; Adyghe Пэнэжьыкъуай ) is a Aul in the Republic of Adygea (Russia) with 3,456 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The place is located about 65 km due northwest of the Republic capital Maikop the river Aptschas, which flows a few miles north in the Krasnodar reservoir of the Kuban.

Poneschukai is the administrative seat of the Rajons Teutscheschski and seat of the rural community Poneschukaiskoje selskoje posselenije to the next Poneschukai nor the Aule Natscheresi, Neschukai and Pschikuichabl, the settlement Sarja and Weiler ( Chutor ) Kolos, Kotschkin and Schunduk belong.

History

The Aul was founded in 1800. Poneschukai is located on the regional road, south of the Krasnodar reservoir the M4 highway at 15 km westerly of Poneschukai Adygeisk with the R253 Ust- Labinsk - connects Maikop - Belorechensk.
