Adygeysk

Adygeisk (Russian Адыгейск, Adyghe Адыгэкъалэ ) is a city in the autonomous Republic of Adygea in the Federal District Southern Federal District. She has (October 14, 2010 Balance ) 12,237 inhabitants.

Geography

The city is located in the Caucasus foothills on the south bank of Krasnodar reservoir, close to the administrative border of Adygea to Krasnodar. The southeast Located Republic capital Maikop is located about 100 kilometers from Adygeisk. The nearest towns are the major city of Krasnodar ( 22 km northwest ) and Gorjatschi Kliuch (28 km south).

History

Adygeisk was created in 1969 as a settlement during the construction of Krasnodar reservoir. Here all villages were resettled, which had to be flooded in the stowage. Since most of the evacuees were Adygei, the new city Adygeisk ( " Adygei city " ) was named. In total, over 8,000 people were resettled in Adygeisk.

1976 Adygeisk was recognized as a city and renamed in honor of Adyge national poet train Teutsch Esch Teutscheschsk ( Теучежск ). 1992 was returned to its original name.

Economy and infrastructure

The city's economy relies mostly on companies in the food industry. These include a bread factory and a dairy that has particularly specialized in the production of the nationally known " Adyge cheese " made ​​from goat milk. The area surrounding the town is agricultural. A considerable part of the population of Adygeisk works in the nearby Krasnodar.

Through the city's highway M4, which passes south to the Black Sea coast and north to Krasnodar to Rostov-on- Don runs. Eight kilometers from the town there is a belonging to the RŽD North Caucasian railway station.

Culture and Education

Adygeisk has a local history museum, which was opened in 1994, and three libraries and a total of 14 different educational institutions. The cultural offer of the city also includes the center of the Adyge popular culture, and the mosque, which is the most important monument of the city.
