Yablonovsky, Republic of Adygea

Jablonowski (Russian Яблоновский ) is an urban-type settlement in the southern Russian Republic of Adygea with 26 171 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The settlement is located in the northern Caucasus foothills about 100 kilometers northwest of the Republic capital Maikop on the left bank of the Kuban Krasnodar directly opposite, the capital of neighboring Federation subject, the Krasnodar region.

Jablonowski belongs to Rajon Tachtamukai whose administrative center Tachtamukai (formerly Oktjabrskoje ) is located eight kilometers south-east. As a de facto suburb of Krasnodar is the second largest settlement in the republic of Adygea Maikop after its capital.

Just under a quarter of the population are " Adygei ," two-thirds Russians ( 2002 census ).

History

The town received in 1958 the status of an urban-type settlement in place of the former village Jablonowka. The old form of the name is still used by the inhabitants to this day.

Economy and infrastructure

In Jablonowski, there are companies in the food industry ( eg fruit and vegetables ). Most residents, however, are employed in neighboring Krasnodar.

The settlement lies on the major railway Rostov - Krasnodar - Novorossiysk and Sochi ( station name Kuban ).

By Jablonowski the A146 trunk road leads Krasnodar Krymsk - Novorossiysk.
