Khanskaya
Chanskaja (Russian Ханская; Adyghe Хъанхьабл ) is a Cossack village in the Republic of Adygea (Russia) with 11,245 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The village lies on the right bank of the Kuban Creek Belaya about 13 km as the crow northwest of the center of the Republic capital Maikop and 12 km southeast of the city Belorechensk in the neighboring region of Krasnodar.

History
The town was founded during the Caucasus War 1817-1864 on 20 October 1862 as a Cossack settlement and later elevated to the Cossack village. It received its name from the river Chanka, which in turn is named after the residence of a Crimean Tatar Khan, who is said to have found a local legend, in the area.
