Tulsky, Republic of Adygea

Tulski (Russian Тульский ) is an urban-type settlement in the Republic of Adygea (Russia) with 10,732 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The place is situated on the northern edge of the Greater Caucasus, ten kilometers south of the center of the Republic capital Maikop, on the right bank of the Kuban Creek Belaya. In the surroundings of the wooded foothills of the Caucasus to rise to over 500 m in height.

Tulski is the administrative center of the Rajons Maikop. For the municipality ( Gorodskoje posselenije ) Tulski belongs next to the settlement nor the 12 km southeast situated in the mountains village Machoschepoljana.

History

The town was in the final stages of the Caucasus War 1817-1864 as part of the settlement of Russians colonized previously Circassians area in 1862 as a Cossack village Jegeruchajewskaja. Already in 1867 received the Staniza the name Tulskaya in honor of the first settlers, Volunteer Infantry Regiment of Tula (Russian Tulski pechotny polk ).

In the Soviet period the Cossack village on 10 April 1936 was the administrative seat of the existing since 1924 Rajons Maikop, after the city of Maikop and the northern part of the Rajons the Staniza Chanskaja had been issued by the former Azov- Black Sea region to the Autonomous Oblast of Adygea. With the establishment of the Krasnodar region on 13 September 1937, the Rajon came to this, and was named after its administrative center Tulskaya.

During World War II Tulskaya was occupied from August 1942 to January 1943 by the German Wehrmacht.

On April 28, 1962 Rajon was dissolved and its territory connected to the Rajon Maikop the Autonomous Oblast of Adygea. In 1963, the Cossack village Tulskaya the status of an urban-type settlement in the present form of the name. After several administrative transformations from 1962 Tulski was born on July 6, 1965 again the center of the Rajons.

Culture and sights

In Tulski since 1952, there is a local history museum, which is open to the public since 1993.

Economy and infrastructure

In Tulski there are companies in the forestry and construction as well as the food industry.

Two kilometers west of the village, on the opposite bank of the Belaya, the station is Tulskaya on the single-track railway line Beloretschenskaja - Maikop - Chadschoch ( Kamennomostski ). Through the valley of the Belaya runs over Tulski ( Western Ring Road) and the road that opens up the southern part of the Republic of Adygea and emanates from Maikop, where connection to the branch line Armavir - the highway M29 is Tuapse.
