The Poppberg is a 600.6 m above sea level. NN high mountains of the southern Harz in the district of Nordhausen in Thuringia ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Popp mountain rises in the Southern Harz Nature Park east-northeast of Ilfeld and north of Neustadt. To the south, its landscape to Switzerland Rudigsdorfer drops, which is among the southern slopes of the resin. To the east of the mountain flows the Kappelbach and to the northwest leads the landscape over the Rabenkopf ( 547.4 m) and Sandlünz ( 516.2 m) to the valley of Bere over.

Poppberg tower

The forested Poppberg bears since 1894 a branch set up by the club Nordhausen the Harz Club 33.5 m high observation tower in steel truss design, which was named after Prince Otto zu Stolberg - Wernigerode. The pinnacle was christened in honor of the forest owner Prince Otto height occasion of the tower consecration on 12 July 1894. The tower was renovated in 1994.
