Poręba

Poręba [ pɔrɛmba ] ( German Poremba ) is a town of about 8,800 inhabitants in Poland. It is located five kilometers west of Zawiercie at the Black Przemsa and belongs to the powiat zawierciański, Silesian Voivodeship to.

History

The first mention of the village dates from the Poręba 1375. In 1538 a smelter was built. At the beginning of the 16th century was the settlement that belonged to the rule Zawiercie, given the Magdeburg Law.

After the Third Partition of Poland from 1795 Poremba came as part of Neuschlesien to Prussia, in 1807 the Duchy of Warsaw, and finally in 1815 Congress Poland.

In the 18th century, the time of the metallurgical industry in Poręba over and the operation was set. 1798 was the turning point for the further development of the city as the marshal of Lucas Bninski ( Łukasz Bninski ) new landowner was. The cabin started operations again and in 1800 they acquired the Breslau banker Prince home.

After the 1828 division of the rule were made along the Warta Poręba belonged to the left of the river located Duże Zawiercie ( United Zawiercie ) belonging to Mrzygłód (now part of Myszków ) came in 1853.

From the lodge went forth later the factory for mechanical devices " Poręba ", which was located since then in various owners. Among them were German industrialists, a Jewish corporation or even an American Association of Polish mechanic.

With the restoration of Poland in 1919 Poremba became Polish again. After the German occupation took place on 19 October 1939, the inclusion of the settlement in the German district Warthenau.

On January 1, 1951, Nowe Zawiercie, which had been one of Poręba incorporated to Zawiercie. Another reorganization took place on 1 January 1957, when the communities Kierszula, Dziechciarze, Krzemienda, Nowa Wies, Turkowa Góra, Poręba Zastawie, Kolonia and Niwki grouped together for Settlement Poręba I, exactly one year later was named Poręba.

On 1 January 1973 Poręba received city rights, but was already incorporated May 22, 1975 following Zawiercie. Since 1 October 1982 Poręba is an independent city.
