The Porvoonjoki [ pɔrvɔ njɔki ː ] ( Porvoo Swedish å ) is a river in southern Finland. It rises on the southern slope of the ridge - mountain range and flows near the town of Porvoo in the Gulf of Finland.

The Porvoonjoki has several sources that lie in Lahti, Hollola and Kärkölä. According to its source, it flows south across the river Orimattila, Pukkila and Askola to Porvoo, where it flows into the sea. The length of the river is 143 km, its catchment area measures 1271 km ². The difference in height between the source and mouth is 68 m. The river has several rapids, which have now almost all clamped for hydropower. The largest rapids is the Strömsberginkoski at Porvoo. The water quality of Porvoonjoki is rather poor due to the injection of wastewater.

The valley of the Porvoonjoki with his move from agricultural plains and gently undulating moraine is one of the oldest cultural landscapes in Finland. On the banks of the river, old world villages have been able to get with buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries and estates. Together with the Old Town of Porvoo the valley of Porvoonjoki is one of the 27 official landscapes in Finland.
