Pozdišovce

Pozdišovce (Hungarian Pazdics ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia.

The municipality is located in the north of the East Slovak Lowland, on the river Duša, which flows in a southerly direction 40 km parallel between the Laborec and Ondava. The municipality is bordered on the northeast by Močarany, a district of Michalovce, the fourth largest city in eastern Slovakia.

The Slovak Highway 50 from Košice Michalovce in the Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod ( same section of the European Routes 50 and 58) performs Pozdišovce. The railway line Košice - Trebišov - Michalovce touches the southeastern edge of the town, the stations in Močarany and Laškovce are three kilometers from the town center.

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1315, when a certain Peter Pazdics gave the land away to the place. From it is derived on the Hungarian name the present name from. Today's Protestant church originally dates from the year 1334.

The population of the municipality Pozdišovce is more than 98% of Slovaks. The last survey for Religionszuhehörigkeit ( 2001) showed for eastern Slovak relations a rare mixed picture:

  • 10% Greek Catholic
