Prince Bernhard of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (1878–1900)
Bernhard Carl Alexander Hermann Heinrich Wilhelm Oscar Friedrich Franz Peter of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach ( born April 18, 1878 in Weimar, † October 1, 1900 in Eisenach ) was Prince of Saxe- Weimar -Eisenach and Duke of Saxony.
Life
Bernhard Heinrich was the son of the Hereditary Grand Duke Karl August of Saxe- Weimar -Eisenach (1844-1894) from his marriage to Pauline (1852-1904), daughter of Prince Hermann of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach ( 1825-1901 ). He was the younger brother of Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst ( Sachsen -Weimar -Eisenach ). His grandparents were Grand Duke Carl Alexander (Sachsen -Weimar -Eisenach ) ( 1818-1901 ) and Princess Sophie of the Netherlands ( 1824-1897 ). Bernhard Heinrich was born on 18 June 1878. His easy-going nature made the later generations obviously the favorite of all. He was " very delicate and small, but in sporting matters of considerable energy, besides, very funny and a kindness to everyone, which earned him a considerable popularity ."
From the year 1890 visited Bernhard Heinrich together with his brother Wilhelm Ernst Wilhelm -Gymnasium in Kassel, which was also later to become the Kaiser Wilhelm II had been taught. Prince Bernhard Heinrich, was filed with the 3rd Guard Lancers in Potsdam - the regiment, in which Harry Graf Kessler ( 1868-1937 ) had 1892/1893 made his one-year volunteer military service.
Death
Prince Bernhard Heinrich inherited the property to lock Racot and the rule Stenchewo in Poznan. He died on 1 October 1900. " Prince Bernhard Heinrich came a severe cold of the maneuvers of the Wartburg castle and has not spared sympathizingly there to the hunts, but seemed like one tells me his condition quite harmless even on Sunday evening, when he went to bed with a fever. Monday morning the Prince in consequence of high fever felt dull, but took tea for breakfast, and said jokingly with the physician. This suddenly noticed that the death occurring, let His Royal Highness the Grand Duke to get that just at the time was to keep the growing cold hand of his grandson einschlummernden gently in his own. The Hereditary Grand Duke was in Silesia. The death has occurred the doctor thinks consecutive rapidly extending pneumonia. "
