Prodigy (Rapper)

Prodigy ( born November 2, 1974 in Hempstead, Long Iceland, New York as Albert Johnson ) is an American rapper and one half of the hip-hop duo Mobb Deep.

Biography

Johnson began to rap in the late 1980s. With Havoc, Prodigy which at the High School of Art and Design in New York City met her, he then founded the duo Mobb Deep. Prodigy took it at the beginning of the role of the rapper, while Havoc contributed the beats. In April 1993, the group released their debut album Juvenile Hell about the label Fourth And Broadway Records. Two years later, The Infamous followed on Loud Records. The Infamous helped the group to make a breakthrough and is considered one of the most influential albums of the East Coast rape.

Prodigy's first solo album was released in November 2000. Having already taken up at this time four albums with his partner Havoc as Mobb Deep, he wanted to take some time out to work on his solo project. The album was titled H.N.I.C. published. It appeared on the label Relativity Records and was produced by Bink! , Hangmen 3, The Alchemist, Robert Kirkland, Havoc, Ez Elpee, Rockwilder, Just Blaze and Ric Rude. H.N.I.C. could reach gold status. As singles tracks Keep It Thoro, rock Dat Shit and YBE were coupled.

After 2006 already the singles Mac 10 Handle and New York Shit had appeared, Prodigy, published in March 2007, his second album Return of the Mac. This was exclusively produced by The Alchemist. Return of the Mac is a mixtape and was able to enter with 26,000 albums sold in its first week at number 32 on the U.S. Billboard 200. It appeared on the label Koch Records. As more singles 2007 Songs Stuck To You and 7th Heaven were released. The track Stuck To You already appeared in the summer of 2005 on the German HipHop Label Tape OnTheMix Records. In the March issue of the hip-hop magazine Juice negotiated the cover story of Prodigy and The Alchemist.

On 10 October 2007 Prodigy was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. Police stopped the rapper on after an illegal U -turn and found during the search of his car a firearm, for which he had no permit. The rapper entered the prison in the spring of 2008. Previously presented Prodigy his album H.N.I.C. Pt. 2 done, which was largely produced by The Alchemist. The album was released on 22 April 2008 on the market and reached number 35 on the Billboard charts. On 4 November 2008 the album was titled HNIC Pt. 2: The Ultimate Collector's Edition re-released. In this eight more songs, a bandana with the words "Free P" and a DVD with the videos are included on all pieces.

After completion of the sentence Prodigy was released from prison on March 7, 2011.
