Prussian G 8.2

The genus G 8.2 consisted of two different locomotive types: on the one from the Prussian / Oldenburg G 8.2, which was further ordered by the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the other from the G 8.2 of the Lübeck- Büchener railroad.

Prussian G 8.2

The Prussian G 8.2 is a version of the Prussian G 8.3 with two cylinders. It had been found that the inner third engine of 8.3 G was not necessary and therefore built the 8.3 G no further. As this was the G was 8.2 developed from the G 12 and presented a shortened version of this represents the locomotives were used for heavy freight service on main lines. Later, the top speed was partially raised to 75 km / h so that the G was 8.2 also used in passenger train service. From this locomotive total 846 copies for the Prussian State Railways and the German Reichsbahn were built 1919-1928. Five vehicles were delivered in 1921 to the Reichsbahn Oldenburg, had, as is usual with the Oldenburg machines, a Lentz- valve control. The locomotives were delivered in 1922 numbers of the genus Directorate Cassel, in 1923 some were then delivered as Series 31, before they were delivered from the end of 1923 with their final numbers. An additional 150 vehicles were delivered to the Turkish and Romanian railway. The company AEG upgraded in 1930 to four vehicles on Kohlestaubfeuerung. 650 copies of these locomotives were still present after the Second World War in Germany. The German Reichsbahn had the car numbers awarded 56 2001-2485 and 2551-2916.

In the German Federal Railroad it came very quickly to the phasing out of this series, as the last was the 2637 56 parked in the 1963 and 1965 scrapped. The main reason for this was the main routes for now at low speed and frequently used branch lines to major axle load. Locomotives of the series, however, were subsequently used as Heizloks.

The German Reichsbahn used these locomotives until the early 1970s - some even were still computer numbers. Stronghold was the depot Vacha in Thuringia, which both the first- and the last- built locomotive began with 56 in 2001 and 56 in 2916. In Germany no locomotive of the series has been preserved 56.20-29. 56 2795 is available as Tr 6 -39 in the Railway Museum in Warsaw.
