Pucciniomycetes
Pear rust ( Gymnosporangium fuscum )
The Pucciniomycetes are a class of Mushroom Fungi ( Basidiomycota ). Among them are the rust fungi ( Pucciniales ). Most members are parasites of plants, animals and fungi.
Characteristics and lifestyle
Almost all representatives are parasites and form Phragmobasidien and teliospores. Only Pachnocybe ferruginea is a Saprobiont and forms Holobasidien, and Platygloea disciformis may be a Saprobiont. The Helicobasidiales the dikaryophase can to parasitize plant roots ( Helicobasidium ), while the haploid phase of rust fungi parasitized ( Tuberculina ).
All representatives form hyphae only in Septobasidium there are also yeast -like growth forms.
System
Within the Pucciniomycotina the Pucciniomycetes are the basalste group, and thus the sister group to all other representatives of the Department. The Pucciniomycetes include five orders:
- Septobasidiales
- Pachnocybales, only representative Pachnocybe ferruginea
- Helicobasidiales
- Platygloeales
- Rust fungi ( Pucciniales )
The Pucciniomycetes meet the Urediomcycetidae, as the group is known by many editors.
