Puente de San Martín (Toledo)

The Puente de San Martín ( German Saint - Martin Bridge ) is a medieval bridge over the Tajo in Toledo (Spain). The bridge was built as a western access to Toledo in the late 14th century by Archbishop Pedro Tenorio and served as a complement to the older, eastern Puente de Alcántara. Both sides of the bridge were heavily fortified with towers, of which the more recent dates from the 16th century.

The Saint -Martin- bridge spans the Tagus in five arches, with the largest at the center has an impressive wingspan of 40.0 m. Very few arch bridges in the world had so far this brand achieved.
