Püggen is a municipality in the Altmark Kuhfelde Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

The place is right on the main road 248 between Salzwedel and Wolfsburg, about 15 kilometers southwest of Salzwedel.

History

Püggen first belonged to the Mark Brandenburg, in the French time she came in the meantime the Kingdom of Westphalia and was from 1815 to the Prussian province of Saxony. After the Second World War Püggen belonged to Saxony- Anhalt, Magdeburg and then to the district after the turn back to the Land of Saxony- Anhalt.

Until June 30, 2009 Püggen was with 50 inhabitants (31 December 2007 ) is the smallest independent municipality in Saxony- Anhalt.

Through a field amendment agreement, the municipal councils of the municipalities Kuhfelde decided ( December 2, 2008 ), Siedenlangenbeck ( 8 December 2008 ), Valfitz ( 10 December 2008 ) and Püggen ( 2 December 2008 ) that resolved their communities and to are combined to a new community called Kuhfelde. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 July 2009.
