Luckau (Wendland)

Luckau (Wendland ) is a village and a municipality in the southern part of Lower Saxony Lüchow- Dannenberg. It belongs to Samtgemeinde Lüchow ( Wendland).

Luckau is one of the most frequently to be found in Wendland Anger round villages. The town's name comes from the Slavic Lauck, meaning leek or onion field.

Geographical Location

The place is located in the Wendland about ten kilometers southwest of the county town Lüchow ( Wendland). The southern boundary of the municipality forms the border between Lower Saxony and Saxony -Anhalt

  • Mammoißel: The place is one of the best-preserved round logs of the Wendland. Worth seeing is a four -column house in the style of Low German hall house from 1777 that has a diagonal half-timbered and brick patterns. The town's name derives from the Slavic and means seat of Malomysl. In the village live about 40 inhabitants.

History

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the municipalities Beesem, Bülitz, Köhlen, Kremlin, Nauden, Püggen, stones and Zeetze were incorporated.

Policy

The municipality belongs to the Luckau Parliament Constituency 48 Elbe and the Bundestag constituency 38 Lüchow -Dannenberg - Lüneburg.

Religions

In the town there are the Evangelical Lutheran parishes Zeetze and Bülitz with the chapel community Luckau. They had until the beginning of the millennium, a common parish in Bülitz with the parish Satemin. Today the churches are connected to the parish in Clenze. The three communities form a working group to closely cooperate with each other.

The villages Köhlen and Kremlin belong to the Church community Meuchefitz that are connected to the church community and other coastal communities in a joint venture and a common Pfarrmat.
