Waddeweitz is located in the Natural Park of the Elbe Valley.

History

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the municipalities Bishop, Diahren, Dickfeitzen, Dommatzen, Gohlau, United Gaddau, Kiefen, Small Gaddau, Kukate, Marlin, Salderatzen, Schlanze, Wittfeitzen and Zebelin were incorporated.

The community Waddeweitz belongs to Parliament Constituency 48 Elbe and the Bundestag constituency 38 Lüchow -Dannenberg - Lüneburg.

The municipal council of Waddeweitz is composed of 9 women council and councilors.

Religions

In the community Waddeweitz there are the two Lutheran churches Zebelin and Wittfeitzen, who have a common parish in coastal parishes with the Church of Peace (Coastal), Krummasel and Meuchefitz. The chapel community Dickfeitzen is connected to the parish in Clenze.

In Zebelin is the youth workshop of diakonia, housed an institution of the Church Lüchow -Dannenberg in the former town hall.

Besides the two cemeteries of the churches in Wittfeitzen and Zebelin there is a small cemetery of the village community Kiefen.

Culture and sights

Churches

The stone church in Zebelin has been mentioned in the 15th century for the first time. The pulpit altar is from the 17th century. Since 2010, the church is being renovated and the color scheme from 1910 restored.

Wittfeitzen is a parish seat since the Middle Ages. The present brick church was built in 1872 in neo-Gothic style and has an organ of P. Furtwängler & Hammer.

In 1900, a small simple chapel with a roof turret and a small bell from 1975 was built in Dickfeitzen.
