Schnega is located in the Natural Park of the Elbe Valley.

History

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the municipalities Billerbeck, Gielau, Gledeberg, Goehr, Harpe, moldings, Lütenthien, Proitze, Schäpingen, Solkau, Thune, Warpke and Winterweyhe were incorporated.

Religions

The Evangelical Lutheran Church congregation Schnega extends over the place Schnega addition to 22 villages. Culture and sights

Churches and chapels

The St Michael's Church was originally a stone building with beamed ceiling, in the upper part with bricks from the 12th century. In the years 1912/13, the church was largely rebuilt under the direction of Konsistorialbaumeisters Sasse in the Art Nouveau style. The late Gothic polygonal choir and the basement of the tower of boulders remained. The church determined by their central, slightly elevated position this location of Schnega.

Chapel in Schäpingen
