After the successful albums Elle'ments and Now ... Us! published the No Angels in April 2003, the first single No Angel ( It's All in Your Mind ), her fourth # 1 hit in the German single charts. The band member Jessica Wahls was no longer involved in this production, she left the group before due to her pregnancy and subsequent solo career. In June 2003, her single Someday was released.

The album Pure was, like its predecessors, produced by a team of writers and musicians around the producers Thorsten Brötzmann and Peter Ries. To produce on the concept of songs written by the band members was dispensed with in this publication. Only the song was composed by Sister Vanessa Petruo with Thorsten Brötzmann and Alex Gerin gas and texted. The artists, however, were involved in the discussions and decision-making to select the track with the producers.

In addition to the regular album was released a Limited Edition, in which each of the four band members interpreted a solo piece. From the title Nadja Soft Place to Fall, Lucy the written song of her Confession, Sandy sings the ballad How Can We Be Friends and Vanessa also the self-penned title Ten Degrees.

In September 2003, the band announced the dissolution of the group. The third extraction Feelgood Lies and the new edition of the single from the album Reason Elle'ments initially ended the career of the No Angels. After separation, the compilation The Best of No Angels, and the live album Acoustic Angels, which only reached # 0 in the German sales charts was published.

Music

As with the previously released albums, the music is stylistically attributable to pop music with elements from the genres of soul and rhythm and blues. Slow title as the ballads New Beginning, Washes Over Me or the cover version of Venus ( originally recorded by the Dutch band Shocking Blue in 1969 ), alternate with faster pop songs. Even with the texts follows the quartet to the scheme of the previous albums.

Reviews

  • Vicky Butscher for laut.de: " And how are they really? Actually, as always, they drive but again the typical Boy or Girl Group repertoire. [ ... ] It would be best, however, if the No Angels would in future concentrate on ballads. Who " New Beginning " or " Washes Over Me " sounds, you know why. Even the ballad rearranged " Venus " is so much nicer "
  • ProSieben review: " Well then, is the third studio album as: " Pure ". And even that will inspire the masses again - because it is not much different from the two predecessors. "We wanted to continue to evolve and not remain " Lucy says about the current fishing work, but this statement is true only in approaches to the 13 songs. [ ... ] Overall satisfied " Pure " expectations, with a few promising pieces, and much more catchy, based on the tastes of the crowd pop songs. But why should the angels also evolve? " Never change a winning concept"! The solid Massenpop works and will continue to work. "
  • Esther Kogel Boom - Der Tagesspiegel, for the separation: " You have no more strength, Vanessa Petruo helped in the end no more infusions. The No Angels are at the end. As a " burn- out syndrome " psychologists would probably call the sum of the symptoms, of which the five women of the " Bild am Sonntag " (" Bild am Sonntag ") narrated: mind and body were on strike, sleep deprivation, resulting thin-skinned, hysteria, allergy, inability to switch off. A year ago Petruo had collapsed at a gig in Hannover, from a dizzy spell was then the speech. The No Angels are at least battered, psychologically, at the end of the day. "
