Pustkowo, Białogard County

Pustkowo [ pust'kɔvɔ ] ( German Pustchow ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is part of the rural municipality ( gmina wiejska ) Białogard ( Belgard ) in the powiat Białogardzki.

Geographical location

Pustkowo is located on a side road that the village Nosowo ( Nassow ) on the European road 28 (Szczecin - Gdańsk ) and the settlement connects Nosówko ( station Nassow ) with Białogard, located about seven kilometers north of the county seat. Leads through the village, the railway route Szczecin - Gdańsk, the nearest stations are, however, three kilometers away: Kościernica ( Kösternitz ) or Nosówko.

History

In ancient times Pustchow was not only a farmer, but also a fishing village. On the Düpt, a now silted lake, fishing was operated. Until 1811, the peasants had to do for the office Belgard Castle services until they have been lifted against tax performance. When in 1830 the forest was sold by the Royal Government to private owners, the Forestry for the town began to grow in importance.

To Pustchow included several splinter settlements, including the forest colony Pustchow (now Polish: Pustkówko ). 1939 the municipality had 488 inhabitants in 128 households. The village belonged until 1945 to the official and the civil registry district Bulgrin ( Białogórzyno ) in the District Court area Belgard. The last German Mayor was Paul Beilfuß.

Beginning in March 1945 Pustchow was occupied by the Red Army. The community was Polish. The German inhabitants left the place and were finally driven to 1946. Today Pustkowo is a district of the rural community Białogard.

Church

By 1945 Pustchow belonged with Bulgrin ( Białogórzyno ) Butzke ( Buczek ) and Silesen ( Železno ) to the parish church Bulgrin in Belgard county ( Ecclesiastical Province of Pomerania ), the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union. Last German pastor was Paul Käding. - Today Pustkowo is part of the parish of Koszalin Polish Evangelical Church of the Augsburg ( Lutheran ) Confession. Parish seat is Białogard.

School

In 1834, the school house burned down. In the school year 1927/28, 19 boys and 29 girls attended the reconstructed village school.
