The University of Science and Technology, Pyongyang ( UWTP ), English and Pyongyang University of Science and Technology ( PUST ), is the first privately funded university in North Korea. It was officially opened in September 2010 and adopted in October 2010 the teaching on. Founded as the University of the Americans and evangelical Christians Chin- Kyung " James" Kim. Kim collected for his project over ten years to 35 million U.S. dollars and also received a donation from the South Korean government in the amount of 1 million U.S. dollars.

The University is designed to help Korean reunification and both North Koreans and South Koreans provide a way to study. The lectures will be held in Korean and English. For the first semester, 160 students were admitted; over the following years, the number expected to increase to 2600. In contrast to the rest of the population of North Korea the students of UWTP have to research access to the Internet for projects.

The UWTP maintains a partnership with the University of Science and Technology Yanbian and is supported by some South Korean universities.
