Pyrzowice

Pyrzowice is a village located in powiat tarnogórski in Silesia, Poland. It belongs to the rural community Ożarowice.

Pyrzowice lies on the northern edge of the Upper Silesian plate, about 22 km north of Katowice and 16 km east of the county town of Tarnów Gory.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1340. In the following centuries, the village had different owners.

In 1940, the German air force put on the northern area of ​​the village to a military airfield. After the 2nd World War until 1951 was the Red Army on the airfield. After the Polish Air Force took over the airfield. In 1966, the first civilian air link has been included. From the airport Katowice developed. The Polish Air Force handed over the airport on 1 May 1994 in civilian hands.

From 1975 - 1998 the village belonged to Katowice Voivodeship.

Traffic

On the northern edge of the village is the international airport Pyrzowice.

In the village the Autostrada A1 passes and is located the motorway junction Pyrzowice where the Droga ekspresowa S1 and S11 make the Droga ekspresowa on the Autostrada A1.

Also at the airport begins the Droga wojewódzka 913 takes you from there to Sarnów ( Psary ) and encounters there on the Droga Krajowa 86 But it has lost due to the completion of the S1 very important.
