Tom the night watchman is an American animated short film directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera from the year 1945.

Action

Bulldog Spike tried in vain to sleep, but hunts in the same room hangover Tom Jerry the mouse. Spike threatens Tom to skin him in the living body, he should continue to make noise. Jerry takes his chance and now casts light bulbs to the ground, the Tom can catch just before impact, tilts the wall clock that threatens to subvert and Tom keeps busy. The turn instills Spike knockout drops one. Jerry noise now remains without consequences and the hunt begins again.

Jerry tries in vain to wake Spike and placed at the end of an oversized stick of dynamite under it. While Tom wants them out from under the sleeping dog awakes Spike. Tom thought about it differently so as not to irritate the dog, and the dynamite exploded beneath him. Skinned half makes Spike now hunt for Tom. In the end, Tom must weigh with numerous associations and one blue eye, a rocking bed, in which not only Spike, but Jerry is.

Tom the night watchman came on 22 December 1945 as part of the MGM cartoon series Tom and Jerry in the cinemas.

Spike is spoken in the film by Billy Bletcher, while William Hanna Tom lends his voice.

Awards

Tom the night watchman won the 1946 Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ".
