The Rýchlostná cesta R3 is still in large part in planning highway in the central part of Slovakia. It will replace the line on their state roads I/59, I/65 I/66 and. Larger towns on the highway are: Dolny Kubin, Ružomberok, Martin and Zvolen. It runs between Ružomberok -západ and Martin together with the D1. Only about 18 km of the actual expressway currently are built, which are designed as two-lane bypasses: 7 km at Trstená, about 6.5 km at Orava Podzámok and about 4.3 km at Horna Štubňa. In addition, the R3 runs at 21 km together with the R1 between Žiar nad Hronom and Zvolen.

Currently, only the short distance from the node to the junction Martin Martin -sever (length 1.6 km ), the D1 end of 2014 the traffic is to be released as part of the section Dubná scale Vrútky the highway, under construction.
