Geography

Location

Raach on high mountains lies south of Gloggnitz in the Lower Austrian industrial area. The municipality is located on the border between the scenic metropolitan areas of the Hunchback world and the Semmering. The Raachbach formed from the coming from the north and flows Raachtal Otterthal in the Otterbach.

The area of ​​the municipality covers 13.25 square kilometers. 70.37 percent of the area is forested.

Neighboring communities

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. Around 1130 Raach was first mentioned. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place informed the eventful history of Austria.

On 1 January 1971, the municipalities were amalgamated Raach on high mountains and Trattenbach to Otterthal. On 1 January 1985 these two congregations became independent again. Reason was a decision of the Constitutional Court.
