The album, whose pieces were mostly written by Stromae itself, represents several styles of music, like hip - hop, electro or World. Part of several musical styles in a single piece are mixed.

Sings for content and raps Stromae on various topics, including the alienation through social networks ( Carmen ), problems between husband and wife ( Formidable ( "great" ) or Tous les mêmes ( " All equal " ), the relations between North and southerners ( Humain à l' eau ) it translates itself into an explanatory video with "Human overboard " ( " man overboard " ) or cancer ( Quand c'est? (such as " When is it ready?" ).

Carmen was inspired by the eponymous opera by Georges Bizet, in Tous les mêmes acts jazz trumpeter Bart Maris.

Reviews

Alexander Cordas of laut.de complained in his review of the album that Stromae " too often in the effects box" unfounded. "Almost all the clichés of electronic music " would be felt in his songs what they were an unwanted " amateurish and ironic painting ". Positive exceptions are songs without " synth Getröte " Tous Les Memes as where Stromae is accompanied by big band brass.
