Rackith is a district of the city Kemberg in Wittenberg district in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

Rackith is located about 12 km southeast of Wittenberg. As districts of the former municipality of lamb village and Bietegast were reported.

History

1004 Rackith was first mentioned. From an attested in the 11th century Castle Ward, the manor later developed.

Rackith 1668-1671 was affected by witch hunts. Two women were caught in a witch trial.

On 1 January 2010, until then independent municipality Rackith was incorporated together with the communities Dabrun, Eutzsch, Radis, Rotta, Schleesen, Selbitz, Uthausen and wait castle in the city Kemberg. At the same time the management of Community Kemberg, belonged to the Rackith was dissolved.

Memorial

  • Tombs in the cemetery of the village for a local part lamb known by name Polin and an unknown Romanian who abducted during the Second World War to Germany and here were victims of forced labor.

Traffic

Federal highway 182, the Wittenberg and Torgau connects, passes directly to the community. The Rackith station and the breakpoint Rackith South are located on the single track railway Pratau - Torgau, which is operated daily by the bus company Vetter GmbH. The breakpoint Rackith South is no longer approached since 2010.
