Ragnarok (Norwegian band)

Ragnarok is founded in 1994 Norwegian Black Metal band from Sarpsborg. The band's name comes from Norse mythology, the term Ragnarök, the final destiny of the gods.

Band History

Ragnarok was founded in 1994 by Jontho (drums) and Jerv (bass ) founded after they had left their previous band Thoth. After a short time Thyme (vocals) and Rym were added ( guitar). With this lineup the demo appeared Pagan country.

In 1995, the group recorded the song Et Vinterland i north for a local compilation. Thus they were given the opportunity once again to record their demo new and with better production. Metalions label Head Not Found Ragnarok took under contract and his debut album Nattferd appeared in the same year. However, Ragnarok was not satisfied with the work of Head Not Found and left the label for a short time. After this, however, changed the conditions, the band remained on the label. At a concert in Oslo together with Old Man's Child she got an offer from Century Media, but they had to decline. Arising Realm, the second album, was released in 1997. The keyboards played Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir one.

1998 Ragnarok toured for the first time, first as a headliner with Transylvania and Atanatos, then with Enslaved, Lord Belial, Gehenna and Aeternus. Then Ragnarok recorded the album Diabolical Age. The recordings have been proceeding not right. A total of two sound engineers supervised the production, but the right sound would not be adjusted. In addition, bandleader Jontho P. had personal problems. Thyme, the group decided to leave, so that the release of the album had to be permanently displaced. In addition, Sander came from Shadow Dancers as second guitarist, but remained only a year and a lack of skills the group in 2001 left again in live performance. Finally Astaroth took over the vacant post of the singer. 2000 finally appeared Diabolical Age yet with Thyme on vocals. After a tour with Satanic Slaughter Astaroth got out again. 2000 joined Lord Arcamous as a second guitarist and later as a singer.

After the contract was with Head Not Found now expired, the group was looking for a new label, and eventually became the Swedish label Regain Records found it. In nomine Satanas was released in 2002, sound engineer Tommy Tägtgren was. A subsequent tour with Dark Funeral, Anorexia Nervosa, Occult and Tidfall however, was a bitter disappointment and also marked the culmination of working with Lord Arcamous. Music style and ideology

Ragnarok is a typical black metal band that pays particular attention to be representing the style of the early 1990s, and their waived progression.
