Rainer Riesner

Rainer Riesner ( born June 2, 1950 in Friedberg ( Hessen) ) is a German theologian and emeritus professor, the New Testament ( NT abg ) taught at the Technical University of Dortmund, Institute of Protestant Theology. His special interest is the historicity of the events described in the New Testament, and the - explored in the New Testament History - Environment of the NTs.

Life

Rainer Riesner studied from 1969 Protestant theology in Neuendettelsau, Heidelberg and Tübingen. In 1975 he took his first theological examination. From 1976-80 he was at times assistant at the Ancient History Department, University of Tübingen, where he was involved with the editorial assistance on " The Rise and Fall of the Roman world." 1980, the degree of Dr. theol. the Evangelical Theological Faculty of Tübingen (supervisor Otto Betz ) with a much-publicized study on Jesus as a teacher. This includes a generally understandable version appeared under the title Jesus and his disciples. Also in 1980, he was ordained in the Evangelical Church of Württemberg pastor. After a second theological examination 1980-82 he took a curacy in Crailsheim and Dusslingen. He then worked as a research assistant for New Testament with Peter Stuhlmacher in Tübingen until 1987. Another important teacher in Tübingen was Martin Hengel. Until 1989, Riesner was a fellow of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. In 1990 he became a professor in New Testament in Tübingen with an investigation into the early days of the Apostle Paul. Then Riesner was pastor until 1997 in the university service and lecturer in New Testament in Tübingen. During this time he also exegetical and archaeological study courses Württemberg minister in Israel (permit as a pilgrim guide). Also for the research of Qumran and the Essenes, he is considered an expert. Since October 2013 he is responsible for the doctoral work in Albrecht- Bengel -Haus in Tübingen.

In the academic year 1997-1998, he became the representative of the department Biblical Theology: Old and New Testament at the Technical University of Dresden. From 1998 to 2013 he taught as a professor of Protestant Theology and New Testament at the University of Dortmund. He is also

Family

He is married to the doctor Cornelia Riesner since 1986 and has four children.
