Rame ( German ram ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Hanila ( Hanila vald ) in Lääne in Estonia.

Description

The place has twenty inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It is located near the Baltic Sea. The settlement was first mentioned in 1465 under the name of ram documented.

The place has the westerly Rame Bay ( Rame Laht ) given its name. It lies between the Virtsu Peninsula and the Estonian mainland.

Culture

On the farm Polli talu is an international center for creativity. It is dedicated to the visual and performing arts, but also uses künstelerische design for healing purposes.

The most famous son of the town is the Estonian book illustrator and graphic artist Helmut Polberg (* 1935), who was born in Rame.

In nature the leaves meadow of Laelatu is ( Laelatu puisniit ). She is one of the largest forest meadows in northern Europe and is under European protection.
