Randy Wood (ice hockey)

Randy Wood ( born October 12, 1963 in Princeton, New Jersey ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who in his playing days from 1982 to 1997 among others for the New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League has played.

Career

Randy Wood began his career as a hockey player in the team of Yale University, where he was active from 1982 to 1986. He subsequently received as a free agent contract with the New York Islanders. For this he played in the next five years in the National Hockey League, where he parallel to their farm team in the American Hockey League, which stood Springfield Indians on the ice in the first three seasons in the franchise of the Islanders. On 25 October 1991, the winger along with Pat LaFontaine, Randy Hillier and a fourth- round option for the NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Pierre Turgeon 1992, Uwe Krupp, Benoit Hogue and Dave McLlwain was delivered to the Buffalo Sabres.

After three and a half years with the Buffalo Sabres Wood was committed in January 1995 by the Toronto Maple Leafs. For Canadians of Americans graduated in the following year a total of 101 games in which he scored 22 goals and had 20 assists. He was then obliged in January 1996 to the Dallas Stars. After just 30 appearances for the Texans, he signed for the 1996/97 season with his former club New York Islanders, where he ended his career at the age of 33 years at the end of the season.

Internationally

For the USA, Wood took part in the Canada Cup in 1991.
