Rannapungerja ( German Ranna - Pungern ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Tudulinna ( Tudulinna vald ) in the Estonian Ida- Viru ( German East Wierland ).

Description and History

Rannapungerja has 29 inhabitants ( 2011). It is located on the eponymous river, just before its confluence with the Lake Peipus ( Peipsi järv ). The village has a small harbor and a lighthouse. Since 1937 it has been recognized as a resort.

Rannapungerja was first mentioned in records in 1534 under the name Ranna - Pungern. In the 19th century there was in the village a pitcher and a post office. The old wooden house from the 18th century was in 1826 replaced by a new building. It is no longer maintained. On display is still the guest house made ​​of wood from the time which is now used as a residence.
