Rashid Nurgaliyev

Rashid Gumarovich Nurgaliyev (Russian Рашид Гумарович Нургалиев; born October 8, 1956 in Schitiqara, Kazakh SSR ) is a Russian politician and army general. From January 2004 to May 2012 he was Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation. Nurgaliyev is of Tatar origin.

Nurgaliyev comes from a military family. In 1979 he made ​​in Petrozavodsk ( Karelia ) his degree in Economics. In 1981, he joined the KGB and worked his way to the head of the Anti-Terror Branch of the Republic of Karelia high. From 1995 to 2002 he held several offices in the Federal Counterintelligence Service (FSK ) and its successor, the FSB.

From 2002 to 2004 Nurgaliyev was First Vice - Minister of the Interior of Russia. On January 2, 2004 Nurgaliyev was Russian Minister of the Interior. It was in this successor of Boris Gryzlov, who had resigned on his election to the Duma chairman.
