Rashid Ramzi

Rashid Ramzi (Arabic رشيد رمزي Rashid Ramzi Rashid Ramzi DMG; born July 17, 1980 in Safi ) is a Bahraini middle-distance runner of Moroccan origin.

Career

At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005, he won gold over 800 m and 1500 m. With this double victory, he was the first athlete, the World Championships a Double over 800 and 1500 meters succeeded. This had previously only two middle distance achieved in the Olympic Games: The New Zealander Peter Snell won at the Olympic Games in 1964 both distances, and Albert Hill was previously successful at the Olympics 1920 on both medium-haul routes.

When a car accident near Rabat on January 19, 2013, was seriously injured. His training partner Abderrahim Goumri was killed.

Doping affair

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing Ramzi came about 1500 m as the finish line first. On 29 April 2009 affirmed the National Olympic Committee of Bahrain that Ramzi has tested positive for post- doping samples that had been taken during the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008 on the EPO- CERA means.
