Ratimir was a follower of Ljudevit (also Liudiwit ). In 831 he led with the support of the Bulgarians to revolt of the Croats against the Count of Friuli and took control. He is said to have persecuted the Christians between Drava and Sava. To Ratimir to Pribinov of Nitra and his son Kocel have fled.

838 fought Ratpot, Margrave of the Ostmark, on behalf of Louis the German against Ratimir, conquered his kingdom and expelled him. This event is mentioned in the Annales regni Francorum. Ratimir is probably fled to the Bulgarians.
