Zdeslav of Croatia

Zdeslav († 879 ) was a Croatian Knez ( Prince ) and there was 864 and 878-879 on the küstenländische Croatia ( Primorska Hrvatska).

Life

Zdeslav was the son and successor of Trpimir I., the founder of Trpimirović Dynasty. After his father's death in 864 Zdeslav was overthrown by the usurper Domagoj and forced along with his brothers Petar and Muncimir exiled to Constantinople Opel.

After the death Domagojs he returned 878 with the help of the Byzantine Empire back to Croatia and crashed Domagojs successor (probably Iljko ). In return, he accepted Emperor Basil I Oberherrschschaft over Croatia.

In the year 879 he was (probably son ) Domagojs, and supports overthrown and killed by Branimir, a relative of John VIII.
