Rauno Miettinen

Rauno Miettinen, Martti Juhani ( born May 25, 1949 in Kuopio ) is a retired Finnish Nordic combined and ski jumping.

Rauno Miettinen 1968 and 1969 Junior World Champion in Nordic Combined. This remained his only title at an international championship.

Miettinen took from 1972 to 1984 at four Olympic Winter Games in part. The most successful was he in 1972 with his silver medal, in 1976 and 1984, he was fourth positions respectively, while disappointing 23 in 1980. At the Olympic Games in 1972 and 1976 Miettinen also took part in ski jumping, albeit with less success.

In Nordic World Ski Championships he won in the Nordic Combined three silver medals in the individual 1978 and team 1982 together with Jouko Karjalainen and Jorma Etelälahti and 1984 with Jukka Karjalainen and Ylipulli. He was also fourth in 1970 and sixth in 1974 in singles.

His greatest successes won Holmenkollen Ski Festival Miettinen in Oslo, where he in 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1978 won. He also was second four times (1975, 1977, 1979 and in a team 1982).

He is one of four athletes, the only non- Norwegian who won in this competition five times. In 1972 he received the Holmenkollen medal. The Black Forest Cup in Schonach he won three times ( 1974, 1975 and 1978).
