Refuge Hélène

The Rifugio Elena is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Graian. It lies at an altitude of 2062 m in the valley Val Ferret at the Pré de Bar -mentioned premises within the municipality of Courmayeur. The lodge is run from early June to mid-September and offers in this time 115 climbers sleeps.

The refuge is located on Trail Tour du Mont- Blanc.

Increase

From Courmayeur you can take the car in the direction of the side valley Val Ferret. When the district Arnouvaz (1769 m) is a parking lot, from where the trek begins.

For the whole, no problems having path from the parking lot at Arnouvaz to Rifugio Elena is approximately 1 hour to be estimated.

History

The Rifugio Elena was first built shortly before the Second World War, but was destroyed in 1960 by an avalanche. In 1995 the lodge was opened in its present form. The hut was dedicated to Elena of Montenegro. Elena was the wife of King Victor Emmanuel III ..

From Rifugio Elena passports Col du Petit Ferret ( 2.488m ) and Col du Grand Ferret can ( 2,537 m) can be achieved.
