Relationship of Command is the third and most successful album by the American post-hardcore band At the Drive - In. It was released in September 2000 and was the last before its dissolution in February 2001. Titles One Armed Scissor, Invalid Litter Dept.. and Rolodex Propaganda was released as a single.

Formation

After their first concerts in Europe in 1998 and a tour in the U.S. as the opening act for Guns N 'Roses, the band released in the summer of 1999, the EP Vaya. In order to reach a wider audience for their third album, the band opted for a label change to the Group's Digital Entertainment Network, which, however, went bankrupt in May 2000 and the band at Grand Royal Records, the label of Beastie Boys member Mike D. passed on.

Produced Relationship of Command by Ross Robinson, who was already known for his work with Slipknot and Korn. This could also win this Iggy Pop to talk a part at the beginning of enfilade and take over the background vocals on Rolodex Propaganda. Was mixed the album by Andy Wallace.

For the first time in its history, the band had several weeks einzuspielen an album. The shooting began in early 2000 lasted about 6 weeks due to the label change, the publication was delayed until September 2000.

The album would be the last of the band, apart from the published 2005 compilation This Station Is Non -Operational, whose title is a quote from the song One Armed Scissor. On 21 February 2001 the band played their last gig in Groningen, then they separated because of artistic differences. Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez -Lopez initially formed the band De Facto and later The Mars Volta while the other three members as Sparta continued making.

Cover design

The artwork for the album and the three coupled-out singles was created by Damon Locks and contains motifs around the topic of Trojan horse.

Success

Relationship of Command was a great commercial success and received mostly positive also from the critics. In the UK charts, the album reached place 33 in late 2000, the album was chosen by readers of the German music magazine Visions only # 7 on the year-end charts, but peaked at number 150 on the plates for the ages in 2005 6
