René Henry Gracida

René Henry Gracida ( born June 9, 1923 in New Orleans) is Bishop Emeritus of Corpus Christi.

Life

René Henry Gracida received on May 23, 1959, ordained priest for the Diocese of Miami.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on December 6, 1971 in Miami Auxiliary Bishop and Titular Bishop of Masuccaba. The Archbishop of Detroit, John Francis Cardinal Dearden, consecrated him on January 25 of next year to the bishop; Were co-consecrators Coleman Francis Carroll, Archbishop of Miami, and Paul Francis Tanner, Bishop of Saint Augustine.

On 1 October 1975 he was appointed the first bishop of the newly established Diocese of Pensacola - Tallahassee and inserted into the office on 6 November of the same year. On 19 May 1983 he was appointed Bishop of Corpus Christi, and introduced into the office on 11 July of the same year. On April 1, 1997, he resigned from his post.
