Rentwertshausen is a village in the southern district Schmalkalden- Meiningen in Thuringia. Since 1 December 2007, the formerly politically independent municipality is a town in the grave field.

Geography

The village lies on the Bibra between Queienfeld and Bibra in grave field.

History

For the first time the city in 1310 was mentioned as Rent Eternally Husen. From 1360 to 1535 was a branch of the lords of Bibra owner. The owners then changed often. Finally, the castle belonged to the lords of joke life.

The place belonged to the ancient possession of the county of Henneberg and was in when the Counts of Henneberg - Schleusingen in 1583, together with the low jurisdiction in aristocratic hands, but was one of the country's sovereignty according to the Official Maßfeld. He came up with this in 1680 to the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen. In 1723 he went in exchange for the Office Schalkau to the Duchy of Saxe-Hildburghausen, which angliederte it to the bailiff Behrungen. In 1826 he came to the office again to Saxe-Meiningen.

In the 18th century built a simple farmhouse, purchased by the City in 1928. From 1991 to 2007, the city was the seat of the administrative community grave field.

With the opening of the railway line Meiningen -Schweinfurt in 1874 and the railway line Rentwertshausen - Römhild 1893 took place a certain upswing. In GDR times, was here for the train to Schweinfurt terminus, the route to Römhild is frequented by 1968 in passenger transport. After the fall of the line was taken towards Schweinfurt again.

Traffic

Rentwertshausen has a station on the railway line Schweinfurt -Meiningen. Here formerly branched from the now disused railway line Rentwertshausen - Römhild.
