Rewal

Rewal ( German re election, formerly Revahl ) is a village and seat of the rural community in Poland, in the powiat Gryficki ( Greifenberger circle). The on the Baltic Sea coast near the town Trzebiatów ( Treptow an der Rega ) located, about two kilometers extending community is one of the largest spas in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Until 31 December 1998, the village belonged to the Province of Szczecin.

Geographical Location and Transport

The main village is situated on a picturesque cliff Rewal the Baltic Sea between Dziwna ( Dievenow ) and Kolobrzeg in Pomerania. The village is located approximately one kilometer northeast from the station.

By Rewal the voivodship road runs 102 ( droga wojewódzka nr 102). This connects the municipality with Lędzin ( Lensin, five kilometers away), Trzebiatów ( Treptow an der Rega, 19 kilometers away ) and with Dziwnówek ( Dievenow mountain, 15 kilometers away ). The distance from Rewal until after Gryfice ( Pommern ) is 24 km.

History

Re election was originally a small fishing and farming village. In 1784 there were half peasants, an inn, a schoolmaster, 14 fishermen's cottages and 17 fireplaces. Some of the fishermen's cottages belonged to the aristocratic Good Hoff. The congregation of the parish was re election in the parish of the Hoff Camminer Synod.

The place is surrounded by fertile fields and gardens on a high grassy Lehmufer. It developed over time into a simple, modest seaside resort. The waters of the Baltic Sea the local micro- climate is exceptionally clean, well, the air contains large amounts of iodine and is not dirty. From the bluffs is a staircase leading to the wide sandy beach.

In 1896, the narrow -gauge railway from Pommern was built after the seaside resort Horst. The track width was up to 1900 750 mm. Then it was changed to 1,000 mm. In 1913 the railway line was extended over Broitz to Treptow an der Rega.

Opposite end of the Second World War, the region was conquered in the spring of 1945 by the Red Army and then - like all of Pomerania - placed under Polish administration. There was a migration of Poland, the houses and property of the German civilian population seized. In the period to about 1947, the Germans were driven out of its place because of Bierut Decrees. The name of the German village re election was changed in Rewal.

In 1991 and 1996, the southern railway line was closed in 1999 and also the fragment of the western line of Pogorzelica ( fishermen's cottages ) to Trzebiatów ( Treptow ). The line of Gryfice after Pogorzelica is the only one in the region. In the village there are five stations: Trzęsacz, Rewal, Sliwin, Niechorze and Pogorzelica.

  • The lighthouse on the cliffs at Niechorze was built in 1866 of brick. He is one of the most popular attractions, with its height of 45 meters. His light is located at a height of 62.8 m above sea level and has a range of approximately 20 nautical miles ( 37 km ). The tower was destroyed in 1945, rebuilt in 1948 after old plans and commissioned on December 18, 1948 again.
