Geography

Geographical Location

Rhine Münster is located in the Upper Rhine Valley between Baden -Baden, Bühl and the Rhine. The individual sub - communities are not merged and form no uniform settlement area.

Neighboring communities

The boundaries of the overall community is bordered on the north by the municipalities Hügelheim and Sinzheim, to the east by Buhl and on the south by Lichtenau (Baden). The municipality consists of the Rhine Munster former municipalities Greffern, Schwarzach, Söllingen and Stollhofen. For the former municipality Greffern part of the village Greffern. History

The municipality was established on October 1st 1974 by the merger of the formerly independent communities Schwarzach, Greffern and Stollhofen (all former County Buhl ) and Söllingen ( Landkreis Rastatt ).

The community name derives from the grown in Söllingen minister Karl Heinz Willmann and was determined in a competition. It reflects two of the most important historical influences resist: The Schwarzacher Benedictine abbey, secularized in 1803, and the Rhine, which limits the district to the west.

Religions

Partnerships

Economy and infrastructure

The economy Rhine cathedral is marked by a branch of the American chemical company Dow Chemical. Historically, shipping, fisheries and agriculture is of great importance. The Canadian NATO base ( districts Hügelheim, Rheinmünster ) presented to the withdrawal of the armed forces in 1993, also an important factor dar.
