The genus plate warmers ( Rhodocybe ) has long been independent, but was united on the basis of molecular biological studies and the resulting kinship with the findings Räslingen ( Clitopilus ).

Features

Macroscopic characteristics

The fruit bodies are medium in size and fleshy. The hat is only strongly arched and later developed a flat, often somewhat depressed and often irregularly wavy shape. The dull, dry, smooth, slightly young velvety felted hat surface has pale, ockrige orange or brown tones with reddish aspects. The brim is bent, the hat skin not removable. The crowded lamella are wide grown to decurrent on stem and dissolve easily from the underlying flesh. They are initially light beige to cream-colored and with increasing Sporenreife meat brown. The fins are cut slightly notched. The whitish, fibrous stem is fleshy, young, often tapered in shape down and 3-8 cm long and 1-2 cm thick. Often find white Myzelstränge At the arm base. The meat ( Trama ) is whitish to cream, in the Hutmitte thick and has a pleasant floury or spicy smell and tastes slightly bitter.

Microscopic characteristics

The spores are flesh colored to salmon pink. They measure 5-7.5 × 3-5.5 microns and appear depending on the angle formed elliptical to rectangular.

Artabgrenzung

Dangerous would be confusion with the fatal in extreme cases Giant Anthias ( Entoloma sinuatum ). The also edible violets Rötelritterling ( Lepista irina ) has a similar appearance and a similar smell, but has narrow or slightly bulged had grown lamellae.

Ecology and distribution

He lives as Saprobiont in coniferous or deciduous rare woods, meadows and parks or along roadsides.

Among the 20 documented in European species of the genus of the Spicy dish Ling is the most common and best known. It is widespread here, but not often. Its fruiting occur from July to October, individually or in rows or rings on.

Importance

It is edible and a good edible mushroom.

Systematics and Taxonomy

The official first description dates back to the 1793 published book " Traité des champignons " by Jean -Jacques Paulet, who described him as " Hypophyllum geminum ".

On the basis of differences in lifestyle, stem color, smell and taste different subspecies and varieties have been described, but what little taxonomic value is given by the presence of transitional forms and unclear delineation: the subspecies mauretanicus ( Maire ), the subspecies subvermicularis ( Maire ) and the variety leucopus ( Kuhner & Romagnesi ).
