Riccardo Ruotolo

Riccardo Ruotolo (born 15 November 1928 Andria; † 1 August 2012) was Auxiliary Bishop of Manfredonia - Vieste - San Giovanni Rotondo.

Life

Riccardo Ruotolo attended the Regional Seminar in Molfetta and studied theology at the Theological Faculty of St. Louis in Posillipo ( Facoltà Teológica di San Luigi a Posillipo Naples). After his licentiate he received on July 15, 1951, ordained priest by his uncle Giuseppe Ruotolo, Bishop of Ugento - Santa Maria di Leuca. He earned degrees in Canon Law of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome ( 1955) and Law at the Catholic University of Milan ( 1956). He was a lawyer of the Rota and Vice - President of the ecclesiastical court of Puglia.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 6 December 1995 as Titular Bishop of Castulo and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Manfredonia - Vieste - San Giovanni Rotondo. The Pope personally consecrated him bishop on January 6, 1996; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops Giovanni Battista Re, ex officio proceedings of the State Secretariat, and Jorge María Mejía, secretary of the Congregation for Bishops. On 28 February 2004 John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.

He spent 25 years ( 1978-2003 ) Special Representative and Delegate of the Holy See, and President of the " Fondazione casa Relief of Suffering, Opera di San Pio da Pietrelcina ".

The Exsequien took place on 2 August 2012. Ruotolo was an honorary citizen of the town of San Giovanni Rotondo.
