Richard Dawson

Richard Dawson ( born November 20, 1932 in Gosport, England; † 2 June 2012 in Los Angeles, Colin Lionel Emm civil ) was a British actor and television presenter.

Life

Dawson joined the Merchant Navy at, but came back three years later and worked as a waiter before he took the road of an actor and comedian later. He had one of his first appearances in Plymouth. In a London nightclub Richard Dawson Diana Dors met his future wife. He married her in April 1959. Both had two children, Mark and Gary, for which he was awarded after separation sole custody. The official divorce followed in 1966.

Ed Feldman, producer of Hogan's Heroes ( Hogan's Heroes ), was aware of Richard Dawson. First he wanted but used him for the role of Colonel Hogan, it was because of his British accent as Corporal Peter Newkirk. Richard Dawson played six years in the comedy series, worked at the same time but also in other movies and series.

From 1973 to 1978 he was a permanent member of the team rate the quiz show Match Game. Its high hit rate, and his humor increased his popularity. In 1976, he finally then got his own show, Family Feud, the U.S. version of Family duel, which he successfully chaired until 1985. In 1978 he won an Emmy for it.

In 1987, he starred in the Schwarzenegger movie The Running Man the role of Damon Killian, in which he partly parodied his own career as master of ceremonies. 1991 married Richard Dawson a second time, Gretchen Johnson, whom he had met in 1981 in his mission. The two had a daughter, Shannon. 1994 Richard Dawson returned back for a short time as a moderator to Family Feud. After switching off the show, he retired to family life.

Richard Dawson, who last lived in Beverly Hills, died June 2, 2012 from the effects of the disease of esophageal cancer at the Ronald Reagan Memorial Hospital at UCLA in Los Angeles.
