Richard Mateelong

Richard Kipkemboi Mateelong (also spelled Mate Long; born October 14, 1983 in Lenape in Narok, Rift Valley Province) is a Kenyan steeplechaser.

The Vice - Africa Champion of 2004 occupied in 2006 and 2007 at the IAAF World Athletics Final in second place.

He won the bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships 2007 in Osaka and the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. At the World Championships in Berlin in 2009 he won the silver medal with a new personal best. In 2010 he won both the Track and Africa Championships in Nairobi and at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

Richard Kipkemboi Mateelong belongs to the ethnicity of the Nandi and is employed by the Kenyan police. It lives mainly in Nyeri and trains in Nyahururu. Since 2005 he has been married since 2006, has one son.
